Do men still carry briefcases?
In these days of little or no paperwork, I think briefcases have morphed into the laptop case, which has become the new style statement. I also think that in today’s corporate world, the laptop bag is the new tie. The bag has come to reflect your personality as your tie used to. So, if you’re gregarious, pick out a loud, sportswear-inspired bag. A sober, refined leather one works best for bankers. Samsonite offers some good options. Tumi is another outstanding brand and Mandarina Duck is the ultimate statement for young, trendy professionals. For professionals who don’t lug their computers along, a good choice is portfolio bags made from soft leather, which definitely look younger than hard briefcases. You can sling most bags across your shoulder, but hand-held ones are also available. Make sure you pick one that has been designed for a laptop, else the computer may get damaged easily.
How can I wear bright colours to office without seeming like I’m on a vacation?Wearing bright colours to work depends on how confident you are. Colours excite and draw attention, which is why they’re so popular in entertainment-driven industries. If you must wear a loud colour, make sure the dress is cut well and fits well. Loose clothes in bright colours most often look garish. You can wear a pastel pantsuit or a skirt and jacket. Colour should be used as embellishment, so it’s best to avoid wearing bright hues from head to toe. Instead, try and bring in an element of brightness in the form of a shirt or top. Loud prints are an eyesore, so stay away from those.
