Ceramic art is one of the oldest art forms in India, but it gets lost in the spotlight that paintings and sculptures enjoy. ”Ceramic art goes beyond pots and pans, but it has been overlooked for the longest time,” says Tripat Kalra, owner of Gallery Nvya. A show of ceramic art, Earth Synergy, opens in the gallery on 9 January, where works will be displayed in three categories—’Beyond history, tradition and culture’, ‘Poetics of the domestic’ and ‘Metaphor of the body’.
About 60 Korean artists and seven Indian artists will participate in the show. The idea for the show came when two years ago Gallery Nvya held a ceramics show for Indian artists, and all the works were sold. “When Kristine Michael, who had participated in the earlier show, called me to ask if I would be interested in doing this one, I told her I would be honoured,” adds Kalra.
At Gallery Nvya, Siri Fort Institutional Area, New Delhi; from 9 January to 14 January
