In the thick of the festive season, let’s not forget that the wedding season is almost here too. And who doesn’t want a grand wedding? Two things which need advance planning are your trousseau and the invite. And both work towards making your wedding an event to remember. Being your own stay-at-home wedding planner isn’t impossible after all.

The Entertainment Design Co.

The biggest weddings that have taken place in India in the last two years—from the Chatwals, Munjals and L.N. Mittal to the Burmans, Poonawalas and filmstars such as Fardeen Khan—have had one thing common. The invites have been designed by The Entertainment Design Co. Started by brothers Kapil and Sandy Khurana, this design company believes that invites have to evoke excitement and curiosity, not just look pretty./Content/Videos/2007-11-09/SS091107.flv1d26a74a-8dc8-11dc-bcc0-000b5dabf636.flv

The design house has two ranges—the prêt line and the couture line. Those who want concept cards but can’t wait or afford one to be designed, the prêt line serves well. This series of invites can be ordered off the rack and there is one for every occasion. But the studio doesn’t allow too many repeat orders. They retire a prêt line card after they have been out twice or thrice. For those who want their invites to be memorable, special couture cards complete with packaging and even labelling are designed.

Vivek Sahni Design

This design studio is known for making wedding invites using materials such as fabric, metals etc. “We like to experiment with different things," says Vivek Sahni. An exclusive design requires orders to be placed at least a month in advance because the process of designing, approvals and manufacturing takes long. Sahni says they often work in tandem with the planner and the couple to insure that the invite and the theme of the wedding are similar. The motif and the colour palette of the cards are often coordinated. Sahni also has two ranges—the prêt line and the couture line.
