Kodaikanal International School

Don’t miss the Kodaikanal International School’s annual concert at Christ College auditorium. Known for its 60-piece orchestra and band, the students of the school will play melodies made memorable by iconic artists such as John Kinyon, Steve Hodges and George Michael, among others. The evening will also feature Western classical music. Vivaldi on Xylophone, performed by Aditya Sagar, Toccata by Poulenc, performed by Hye Jin Kim on the piano, and Suite Antique by John Rutter, performed by Da Yang Jeong on the flute, are some of the solo performances. Girija Kalyana

The city’s Spandan Group is presenting ‘Girija Kalyana’, a Kannada play written by B. Suresh and directed by B. Jayashree. Girija is a magnanimous character in Indian mythology. According to the legend, her love for Lord Shiva was unwavering and she went through punishing penance, to the point of sacrificing her life. Suresh weaves a modern-day story around this myth and Jayashri tells that story in her inimitable style, bringing vibrant folk forms and music into play. Girija Kalyana, premiered at the Ranga Sangeet Mahotsav in Pune, was organized by Amol Palekar. The 110-minute play will start at 7.30pm. At Rangashankara, 36/2 8th Cross II Phase J P Nagar. Paintings

Hues of Bengal

17-23 February

It is a collection of paintings showcasing 20 contemporary artists from Bengal. The exhibition will include works of leading artists such as Paritosh Sen and Bijon Chowdhury and younger artists such as Samen Khamrui and S.K. Shajahan.
