In the last 24 hours, Facebook has come up with a new AI which will identify context and sentiment in comments and posts to improve user experience and Flipkart is conducting an online gaming event with cash prize of 50,000. Here’s more from the world of tech.

Flipkart is organising a gaming event for Indian gamers

Flipkart is organising an online gaming championship between 3 June and 11 July, 2016. Targeted at the Indian gaming community, the championship will invite gamers to play individually in FIFA and as team in League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. One game will be played every week starting with FIFA. The event will be live streamed on Amazon’s live streaming platform. The winners of the individual game will receive electronic gift vouchers worth 20,000 while the winners of team games will get electronic gift vouchers worth 50,000 as prize money. Facebook unveils AI engine to understand sentiments in text

In order to understand the context and sentiment behind a text based post or message, Facebook has come up with a built-in the AI (Artificial Intelligence) called DeepText. The AI can scan the nature of content in thousands of posts in a second in more than 20 languages. The objective is to grab their intention of the person even if the text is not very clear. With the ability to understand text, the social network will be able to identify and highlight the comments or posts which are relevant and non-abusive.

HP launches laptops and convertibles for professionals

HP has come up with new laptops and convertibles designed specifically for modern professionals. The HP Folio which is priced at 1,28,000 is notable for its sleek and light form factor and security features. It is powered by Intel’s 6th gen Core i7 processor with 8GB RAM. The less expensive Elite X2 1012, which is priced at 95,000, is a 2-in-1 laptop with a flexible kickstand and a detachable keyboard. It is powered by Intel Core M7 processor with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. Read more here.

Apple rolls out new version of iOS 9.3.2 to resolve bricking issues

Apple has rolled out a new version of the iOS 9.3.2 update which was released on 16 May. This new version will resolve the issue which bricked some iPad Pro tablets soon after the users updated to iOS 9.3.2. After the bricking incident was reported by many users, Apple withdrew the iOS 9.3.2 update for the said tablets. The new version of the update can be downloaded over the air (OTA) on any iPad Pro which have not been updated to the iOS 9.3.1 yet. Those who have updated and ended up with a bricked device have been asked to contact the Apple support. Read more here.

Sydney to install pedestrian Street light for smartphone users

In order to prevent smartphone users from getting into accidents authorities in Sydney are working on installing traffic lights on pavements. The first set of lights will be installed at five key crossing in Sydney in December for a trail period of six months. The authorities pointed out that the number of pedestrian related deaths has gone up by 50% in the state of New South Wales since 2014. Though they don’t know the exact number of accidents caused by smartphones, a 2014 study by University of Queensland showed that texting while walking puts people off-balance.
