EPIC BROWSER
The wonderfully named Epic Browser claims to be “the first ever Web browser made for India”. That’s only partly true—it’s not so much “made” as “cobbled together” for India. Epic Browser is built on the Firefox platform, and includes a bunch of nifty features—support for typing in Indic languages (complete with a basic word processor), an inbuilt antivirus scanner, and India-specific add-ons for cricket scores, stock market tips and Bollywood news. All these add-ons are integrated into a sidebar that provides easy access. It also comes bundled with stuff whose usefulness is slightly more dubious—there are groan-inducing “themes” featuring Sachin Tendulkar, Katrina Kaif and the Taj Mahal. It’s a 10.6 MB download, and while all this added functionality may impair performance, Epic claims to be as fast and secure as the latest version of Firefox. Get it at www.epicbrowser.com
