Bil’in Habibti (Bil’in My Love)
29 March
Decorated with the Wolgin award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival 2006, and given an honourable mention at the Rotterdam Film Festival 2007, Bil’in Habibti is about the villagers of Bil’in and their struggle to save their land from a security barrier and a Jewish settlement of Modi’in Elite. The director, Shai Carmeli-Pollak, tracks the village’s struggle for more than a year, focusing on two central figures: Mohamed, a member of the village’s local committee against the barrier, and Wagee, a farmer and father of ten, who is losing the majority of his land to the barrier and to the settlement. The film is being presented by Pedestrian Pictures, a city-based organization working to create an understanding of socio-political realities. At the Institution of Agricultural Technologists (IAT), Queen’s Road (near Indian Express circle), Cunningham Road. 5–7pm. This social satire is a tribute to the common man and his journey, driven by hopes, dreams, aspirations and intentions of being noticed in a society oblivious of human emotions and engulfed in the selfish motives of a mechanical life. The play will be interactive and the audience will get to decide how it ends. This is a theatre format that evolved out of the Yours Truly Theatre Lab work. Truly Theatre is a Bangalore-based group working on developing more theatre concepts relevant to today’s world. 7.30 pm. At Rangashankara, 36/2, 8th Cross, JP Nagar, 2nd Phase (next to post office).
