Though a little late, YouTube is said to be working on announcing its own video contest. YouTube members can browse through videos in seven genres at http://www.youtube.com/YTAwards/ and rank their favourite short-form videos. Polling closes on Friday. The winners will be announced on 26 March.
The categories in which users will be judged include most creative or inspirational, best series, comedy, music and commentary. A seventh category, “most adorable video ever”, seeks to recognize the proliferation of “so cute it hurts” sleeping cat or dog videos!
So if you are a pet person and shoot a lot of videos of your domesticated animal, here’s your shot at getting recognised!
If nominated, you will be allowed to promote yourself to improve your chances of winning. Nominees can create videos over the next few days to promote themselves. They can also plead for votes or make acceptance speeches! While the prize isn’t a million dollars, the top videos in each category will get bragging rights and a fancy trophy to feature prominently in a future video. Good enough?
