Priyanka Sachar’s solo exhibition is all about those transient visuals that stay with you longer than you expect them to. A bunch of roses wrapped in jute sack, waiting to meet their destinies; a reflection on the side-view mirror of a shining pink Cadillac; and several other frames that depict similar outworldly displays of colour and light.
Evanescence is Sachar’s debut solo show and all the 16 images are slice-of-life shots snatched from the streets, frozen in their split-second existence just before they disappear. The signed photographs are available as limited edition prints on archival paper in two sizes, 12x17 inches and 17x24 inches. They are priced at Rs10,000-15,000.
Sachar, who is popularly known as Twilight Fairy in her online avatar, recently quit her 11-year career in the software industry to pursue her dual passions of photography and social media consultancy. She has had a couple of group shows in the past. In 2007, she received the “Best Woman Photographer” award, given by The Times of India and Canon as part of a photography contest.
The venue for the show is a casual dining restaurant chain called the Bagel’s Café which hosts a new photography and art exhibition every alternate month.
Lalita de Goederen, owner and initiator of the café, says she decided to host Sachar’s show because she had not seen such works before.
The photographs have been taken over a two-year period and it was only recently that Sachar began to see a common thread between them. “I guess I was always looking for these moments but only recently did I self-edit them to present this show,” she says.
Evanescence will run from 28 May-8 July, 8am-10pm, at Bagel’s Café, D-140, The Shopping Mall, DLF City I, Gurgaon.
