On today’s show we talk to Anshu Gupta, the founder of Goonj, an NGO that has demonstrated how cloth can be a powerful resource for the development of India’s poorest communities.
Goonj channels excess resources, waste in urban households to the impoverished rural and disaster-prone areas.
Sourcing its material at collection camps in urban neighbourhoods and corporate offices, Goonj delivers 1000 tons of material every year through an extensive network of volunteers, schools, corporate houses and NGO partners across India.
As Goonj wins the Social Entrepreneur award of the year, Gupta talks to us about the mindset of charity—he asks a pertinent question. Are you giving or are you discarding?
