From the runway to the restroom, Versace’s got it covered. But to get the Italian goods for the bathroom, there’s only one stop in India—Tiles & Styles’ Mumbai showroom. After visiting the world’s largest tiling and surfacing fair, Cersaie, in Italy three years ago, Tony Singh, director of Tiles & Styles, says the company decided to partner with Versace to bring their surfacing material to India. The store now services clients from Chennai to Kolkata who want to give a designer edge to their homes. The tiles come in porcelain and ceramic and in an array of styles. Singh says his favourite, and their best-seller, is the Palace range. The decadent mosaic design fits well with the “Indians’ love of the opulent,” he adds.
Also, the tiling isn’t limited to the bathroom. More and more clients have opted for tiling in drawing rooms, kitchens and entryways. And, for those who want the signature Versace Medusa head symbol, the company can lay a 1ft mosaic in the tiles, etch the symbol on to glass, or intersperse the head in the tile pattern. With a price tag of Rs1,400 for a 1”x1” tile with the Medusa head, the price can become steep quickly. However, clients can customize their tile selection, buying a simple edging accent, or tiling an entire bathroom.
As of now, the store only offers tiles and a limited range of bathroom accessories. But, in October, Versace will introduce sanitaryware to the line.
