Criss-Cross, a week-long exhibition showcasing the work of Swiss designers, opened at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, on Tuesday. It consists of 400 items across seven themes. For instance, the theme “Tiny Helpers" includes knives, spoons, coffee makers and music players. Other themes are “Up to the Mountain", “Longsellers" and “Hip and Young". The exhibition’s next destination is Bangalore. ( PTI)

Fifty-two steel posts, each 10ft tall, will be erected at Hyde Park in memory of those killed during the suicide bombings of 7 July 2005 in London. The final design for the memorial was unveiled last week. The pillars will be grouped in four linked clusters to reflect the attacks on three trains and a bus. A plaque listing the victims’ names will be placed on a grass bank near the memorial. Work on the monument is expected to start later this year for an official unveiling on 7 July 2009. ( Reuters)

From 23 July to 27 October, New York’s Museum of Modern Art showcases the inspiration the city exerted on the top architects in the 1970s, through a collection of drawings, projects and scale models reflecting both pragmatic and utopian views of the city. “Dreamland" features works by Raimund Abraham, Peter Eisenman, Steven Holl, Hans Hollein and contemporaries.( AFP)
