Crisis of Civilization: A Journey With Tagore

This play will speculate on the last speech written by Rabindranath Tagore, Crisis in Civilization (1941), and will feature 10 of his songs. It is directed by Jagdish Raja and written and performed by Ranjon Ghoshal, a founding member of the first Bengali rock band Mohiner Ghoraguli. The play will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

This week, Jagriti Theatre’s Curtain Raisers series will showcase The Tortilla Entertainment Company’s The Seussification of a Midsummer Night’s Dream. In the play, directed by Judith Roby Bidappa, two narrators will chronicle the tales of lovers as they wander through a forest full of beasts and fairies.

Indie March Festival: Blek + Skrat

Two bands will perform at this concert: Blek, the three-member punk and alternative band from Mumbai comprising Rishi Bradoo on guitar and vocals, Jared Juan Credo on bass and vocals and Varoon Aiyer on drums; and the garage rock trio Skrat from Chennai, comprising Sriram on guitar and vocals, Satish on bass and vocals and Tapass on drums and vocals.

The Ananya GML Cultural Academy will host Raagavalli, a music event that explores Carnatic ragas. At the third edition of this festival, Sanskrit scholar Shatavadhani R. Ganesh, along with vocalist Ranjani Vasuki and her accompanists, will explore ragamalika, a garland of five ragas from the same family, within the idiom of Carnatic music.
