Photo editing apps Prisma and Artisto have inspired several spin-offs ever since their inception last year. The latest app to join the club is called Vistoso which also uses AI (artificial intelligence) to make photos and selfies look like art work. Developed by a Gurgaon-based start-up called Staqu, this free app is currently available for Android devices only.

Vistoso has a lot in common with Prisma, which is also free to download and use. You can take a shot using the phone’s rear or front camera from the app interface itself. The app has over 40 filters and they show on a horizontal scroll in the lower half of the screen. The other half provides a live preview of what the image will look like with every filter. You can also reduce or increase the intensity of the filter. So, the original colours of the app will remain visible and give the image a slightly distinct look. Vistoso also needs active internet connection to work, but takes less time to apply filters than Prisma.

Once a filter has been applied, you can save a photo on the phone’s gallery or share it with friends on social media or messenger apps.

Another highlight of the app is that it allows users to convert their photos into souvenirs. Users can have their saved images printed on mugs, hand bags and T-shirts. For this, Staqu has tied up with online store Vista Print which deals in customised goods. Users don’t have to download the VistaPrint app for it, and can choose an item, see how it looks with the image, choose the product dimensions and place an order from the Vistoso app itself.
