NEW DELHI :

It’s not every day that we get excited about new fitness-focused footwear. Take a look at the Thrust 2.0 from Zeven, however, and you’ll probably think this is some new footwear from the better-known internationally reputed brands.

The mesh upper has a flexible yet robust construction. And Zeven has focused specifically on the comfort aspect. The cushioning under the foot, particularly around the ankle, is extremely good. There is a generous amount of ventilation to ensure the foot doesn’t feel stifled even if the ambient temperatures go up. The build is lightweight, which means you are pulling lesser weight as you go along.

The Zeven Thrust 2.0 is available in multiple colour combinations—blue and green, orange and white, neon green and black, black and grey, neon yellow and black, black and blue, black and green, black and red. In most of these combination options, the upper mesh sports one colour while the outer walls of the midsole and outsole as well as laces have a contrasting colour.

The Thrust 2.0 has followed the Strobel construction method. Also known as Force Lasting, it started off with sports shoes and is now becoming popular with non-sports footwear as well. Essentially, the upper mesh is integrated with the insole, which itself has raised walls, because the single-unit build enhances flexibility as well as durability. The EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) midsole has a slight bounce-back, which is useful while running because it does give the foot a nice lift-off feel as you start running, and during every direction change.

Zeven hasn’t used any fancy materials for the outsole, relying instead on good old rubber composition with a multi-block tread design for grip. We did not find the grip levels any inferior to more expensive running shoes. There is further reinforcement beneath the toe, and an additional layer for supporting the heel as well as to assist in the lift-off movement during every foot transition during a run.

The only drawback of the Thrust 2.0 is that the generous amount of cushioning does not allow the surface feedback to filter through to your foot—some runners prefer to get some idea of the surface they are running on, which also gives them an idea of any change in texture, material or grip levels.

The Zeven Thrust 2.0 is a competent running shoe that has every element you would expect. The genuine surprise is the price tag. At present, you can buy these on Zevenworld.com (they also sell shoes designed specifically for cricket, in the gym, tennis, and running), and also on Amazon.in.
