You don't worry about ambience when working
I just bought a bunch of beautiful black and white photographs. What are the best ways to mount them?
Black and white photographs look great on a 3-D mounting. Float the photograph in a piece of glass and frame it with a simple black or white frame. This would be the most unobtrusive way to frame it, which is exactly what you want for a black and white picture. The black and white photo says a lot more than a coloured one, and so it really needs to have very little distraction around it. Once you know how you want the photos framed, you can take them to any local framer and give them the directions. One place in Delhi is Moti in Connaught Place.
There seem to be about a hundred different types of light bulbs in the markets these days. Which ones do I want for my home?
There are three uses for lighting in your home. One is general lighting when you need to illuminate the entire space. The next one is called task lighting, for either reading, writing, cutting or chopping. The third is ambient lighting. This is the most important to enhance the feel and the decor of a space. Fluorescent lighting is energy-efficient and gives out less heat than incandescent and halogen lighting. However, fluorescent lighting is very harsh, so should only be used in work spaces. You don’t worry about the ambience when you’re working; you just want light to see by. You can soften the effect of fluorescent lighting by going in for smaller fittings, which are called compact fluorescent lights. For task lighting, halogen lights work very well as spotlights or as focus lights, but they do consume a lot of electricity and give out a lot of heat. These, therefore, should only be for lights that are not used for long periods of time. For ambient lighting, for a softer, warmer feel, use incandescent bulbs that give off yellow light.
