For the ancient Chinese, buying a laptop computer would have been a pretty straightforward task. The only question they would have had to answer was: “How many beads?" Laptops have come a long way since the abacus, and that’s both good and bad. An abacus is just dandy if your computing needs are confined to, say, counting sheep. But modern corporate man (homo directus) expects a lot more from his machine than mere addition and subtraction, thank you very much.

This is the cranium-collapsing irony of modern technology: Products advertised as life-simplifying, sexy little slices of hi-tech heaven are in reality about as easy to buy as a 2BHK in downtown Mogadishu, Somalia.
So if you’re on the hunt for your ideal business laptop, accept our commiserations. Here is a flow chart that will hopefully make the task a little less Herculean. After all, there’s little point in owning a spanking new piece of high technology if the process of selecting it turns your brain into custard.
