Lakme Fashion Week begins in Mumbai on 5 March, this time with a new concept. For the first time, designers will present resort-wear lines that will be in stores soon after. Customers will not have to wait six months to purchase clothes they saw on the ramp at the fashion week. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Nikasha Tawadey: If a beach wedding is on your agenda this year, you should be watching this designer. Tawadey’s collection of resort wedding wear has a subdued palette with ensembles that are entirely white and cream with bursts of yellow and red. Banarasi silks, chanderi, mul mul, silk chiffon and georgettes are embroidered with little buds and blossoming flowers in chikan mixed with mukaish.

Satya Paul: The label that has become synonymous with saris is celebrating its 25th year by showing at Lakme Fashion Week for the first time. The collection is a break from the colourful prints that the label is known for, with bold patterns in white on a base in the colours of spring.

Myoho: The Butterfly Effect is what designer duo Kiran Jaisinghani and Meghna Agarwal are bringing to their resort-wear collection at the fashion week. As the name suggests, the collection is vibrant in colour, with lots of prints and appliqué. There are gossamer silks in dual tones and 3D prints.

Asmita Marwa: This designer finds inspiration in the bohemian spirit. Her collection titled Maya is for the independent woman who can drape a sari with the same ease with which she wears shorts. Her boho resort collection is quirky and mismatched with checks, tie-and-dye and roses on muslin, linen and chiffon.

Payal Singhal: Crepes and tulle embellished with crystals and embroidery on skirts, tanks and maxi dresses make for a cheerful and easy-to-wear collection in muted tones of ecru and sand.
