American Ambrosia, Delhi
American Ambrosia offers an array of bagels, pretzels, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and cinnamon buns. Orders should be placed 48 hours before to ensure delivery, but same-day orders can be met. The desserts are sinful and the bagels smeared with Philadelphia cream cheese (available from American Ambrosia, as well) make a perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner. The desserts can be made in regular or mini size and can be packaged for announcements.

Tortilla’s Corner, Delhi
The healthy offerings run the gamut of Spanish delicacies, such as fried prawns in shells, Spanish potatoes, tortilla de patatas, lentils with chorizo, and gazpacho. Plus, she’s added a few Chinese, Italian and Indian recipes, such as noodles with cabbage, pasta with tuna, meatballs with tomato sauce. Order a day in advance and call after 4pm.

Character Cakes, Delhi
She creates lavish character cakes with sugar paste and cream frosting. The cakes are yellow or chocolate, and the recipe can be made without eggs by request. She can also make decorated cookies and cupcakes. She’s open to suggestions and has created race cars, princesses, and even a one-rupee note. “I’ve never turned down a request—yet,” she says.

I Love Sushi, Mumbai
Bhojwani learnt her craft from a Japanese chef and now creates maki and special “Indian taste” rolls, such as the Thai chilli roll, chilli tuna roll and asparagus tempura. She can make brown rice sushi on request and, if the meal needs to be spruced up, she offers gift-wrapped packages imported from Japan.

Goan pork specialities, such as the vindaloo, sorpotel and the preparation of the celebratory pigling roast, set Desa apart. For the pigling roast, the order has to be placed at least five days in advance, but for large parties, it’s well worth the wait. One roast can feed up to 100 people.

Coming from a family of foodies who “live to eat”, Mehta makes appetizers such as stuffed mushrooms, olive nuggets, cheese samosas, mint cheese baby potatoes, and a range of 22 special dips. “The feedback is great, but the best is when people tell me that my hummus is even better than Souk at Taj,” she says.
