Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week Review | Coming of Age
Nachiket Barve’s new collection shows his shift in design; Urvashi Kaur’s creations had an organic appeal
Coming of Age: Nachiket Barve
A gear seems to have shifted in the design mind of Nachiket Barve whose chiffony creations in shocking colours with variations of surface embellishments could have summed up his signature. Saleable, pretty and suited to our market needs but not something to find mention if you scrolled down the turning points of Indian fashion. Then Barve went and challenged himself, thus also challenging the reviewers of his work.
Fossil, inspired by leaves of pre-historic Gingko trees, giant dragonflies, granite textures, marble and other rocks, and the collection shown on the first day of the WIFW Spring/Summer brought us delightful fashion. Grown up but not old. Sophisticated and dusted with 20th century European decadence but not vintage.
