Vacheron Constantin’s new Harmony family
How Vacheron Constantin found inspiration in a single Harmony piece from its archives, and created a new family of watches
This year, Vacheron Constantin celebrates the 260th anniversary of its founding. To mark the occasion, the brand unveiled seven references within a new collection: Harmony. Distinguished by its cushion-shaped case, the family is based on one of the brand’s first chronographs launched in 1928. That original model was a monopusher minute-counter chronograph made in 18-carat yellow gold with a silvered dial. It featured a pulsometric scale that could be used by a doctor to measure a patient’s pulse. The unusual cushion shape of the 1928 piece is the architectural foundation for the new Harmony family.
The flagship Harmony piece is the new Ultra-Thin Grande Complication Chronograph. Only 10 of these watches will ever be made, and each will feature the new self-winding 3500 calibre. The calibre comprising of 459 components and a peripheral rotor will be housed inside a Platinum 950 case. The watch displays hours, minutes, small seconds and power reserve, and has a split-second monopusher chronograph with a tachymeter scale. The watch embodies not only the brand’s watchmaking skills, but also the great versatility of the original 1928 case design.
