Mumbai-based home furnishing store Chesterfield has introduced a range of tableware to up the glamour quotient while you dine. Glasax, a glass company based in Germany, has a metallic range of products that adds a sheen to the table which regular ceramic dishes could never give. The dishes—dipped in metallic shades of reds, golds, browns and topaz—also come in enough variety to service traditional Indian dining, unlike some imported dish ranges. “You have the vegetable side bowl, you have the deep bowls, you have the complete range,” says Chesterfield owner Manjari Thanawala. Thanawala says the plate design also allows for great mix-and-match ability. “You can put the metallic red plates with topaz glasses. Or, you might take a striped glass with a plain metallic gold bowl.” The glass is pressed crystal from the Schwepnitz region. Though Glasax is available in more than 58 countries around the world, this is the first time it has entered the Indian market.
The pieces are all sold separately, with the smaller plates starting at around Rs200, the dinner plates at around Rs300 and the bowls at around Rs500. The product line is available at Chesterfield, Laxmi Industrial Estate, Andheri, Mumbai.
