Innocent brides. Virile playboys. Electric erotic charges. But even with its stock blandishments, The Love Asana, the first Indian novel from Mills & Boon (M&B), about beautiful yoga instructor Pari and wicked, seductive tycoon Vivan, is a breezy read. M&B discovered author Milan Vohra through its “Passions" contest for aspiring romance novelists; it hopes to find more in subsequent years.

Vohra and forthcoming Indian authors will “all have a global audience", says Manish Singh, country head, Harlequin M&B. There’s hardly a dearth of fans in India, with M&B’s business growing 2.5 times since 2009, says Singh.
