BSE Sensex ends 114.77 points down at 28,106.21; Nifty falls 34.40 points to close at 8,709.5

3:55pm: BSE Sensex ends 114.77 points down at 28,106.21; Nifty falls 34.40 points to close at 8,709.55.

2:40pm: BSE Sensex falls 143.12 points, or 0.49%, to 28,081.86, while the Nifty is trading lower by 34.80 points, or 0.40%, to 8,709.15.

1:55pm: BSE Sensex is up 3.99 points, or 0.01%, to 28,224.97, while the Nifty rises 0.85 points, or 0.01%, to 8,744.80.

1:45pm: Goa Carbon Ltd rises 14% to Rs134. The stock gained 55% in last one month. The company reported a net profit of Rs4.62 crore in June quarter against net loss of Rs2.96 crore. Net sales rose 0.3% to Rs79.03 crore.

1:35pm: Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd rises 8% to Rs24.55 after the company said it is in pact with Arunachal Pradesh government to boost palm oil production through development of quality palm plantations and human capacity building.

1:25pm: IT stocks are trading lower. HCL Technologies Ltd falls 1.8%, Infosys Ltd falls 1.2%, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd falls 0.3%, Wipro Ltd falls 0.3%, Tech Mahindra Ltd falls 0.3%.

1:15pm: Private banks are trading higher. Indusind Bank rises 1.3%, Kotak Mahindra Bank rises 0.7%, HDFC Bank rises 0.6%, Yes Bank rises 0.4%, Federal Bank rises 0.3%.

1:05pm: Axis Bank Ltd falls 1% to hit a two month low of Rs524.15—a level last seen on 25 July. The stock fell 17.4% in last one month and so far this year it rose 18.1%.

12:50pm: ICICI Bank Ltd falls 1% to Rs253.55. The stock fell 8.3% in last two weeks and so far this year it fell 7.9%.

12:40pm: Petronet LNG rises as much as 2% to hit all time high Rs376.25. The stock gained 14% in last one month and so far this year it gained 48%.

12:30pm: Indraprashta Gas Ltd rises as much as 5% to hit record high of Rs868.90. The stock gained nine out of eleven trading sessions and rose 16.4% in this period. So far this year it rose 64%.

12:15pm: BSE Sensex gains 74.39 points, or 0.26%, to 28,295.37, while the Nifty rises 25.35 points, or 0.29%, to 8,769.30.

12:00pm: Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd rises 5% to hit fresh record high of Rs455.85. The stock gained 13 out of 15 trading sessions and rose 15% in this period. So far this year it rose 61%.

111:50am: Reliance Infrastructure Ltd rises 1.1% to Rs597.65. The stock gained 11% in last five trading sessions and so far this year it rose 10%.

11:40am: Upstream companies like, Reliance Industries Ltd rise 2.4% to Rs1,115.25. It gained 10.5% in last one month and so far this year it gained 10%.

11:30am: Gail India Ltd rises 2.7% to Rs411.50. The stock gained four out of five sessions and gained 14% in this period. So far this year it gained 10%.

11:20am: Oil & Natural Gas Corp Ltd rises 1.6% to Rs271. The stock gained five out of seven trading sessions and rose 10% in this period. So far this year it gained 12%. Oil India Ltd rises 2.2% to Rs419.75. The stock gained 5% in last five trading sessions. So far this year it gained 8.1%.

11:10am: Among the oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corp. Ltd rises 5% to hit a record high Rs646. The stock gained 13 out of 17 trading sessions and gained over 15% in this period. So far this year it gained 48%.

11:00am: Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd rises 5% to hit fresh record high of Rs680.15. The stock gained 12 out of 15 trading sessions and rose 20% in this period. So far this year it gained 50%.

10:50am: BSE Sensex gains 81.73 points, or 0.29%, to 28,302.71, while the Nifty rises 29.10 points, or 0.33%, to 8,773.05.

10:35am: Jaypee Group stocks are trading higher after its board will meet on 6 October to consider the recommendations of the Restructuring Committee and the progress on the various divestment initiatives of the Company. Jaiprakash Associates Ltd rises 4%, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd rises 8%, Jaypee Infratech Ltd rises 1.2%

10:25am: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd falls 2% to Rs81.90 after the company said it didn’t pay interest due on 30 September on non-convertible debentures, a sign that cash flows are falling short of liabilities.

10:15am: Banking stocks are trading lower. Axis Bank falls 1.6%, Bank of Baroda falls 0.9%, Indusind Bank falls 0.6%, Punjab National Bank 0.6%, State Bank of India 0.6%, Canara Bank 0.3%, Oriental Bank of Commerce fell 0.3%.

10:00am: The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex is currently trading higher by 92.31 points, or 0.33%, to 28,313.29, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rises 22.60 points, or 0.26%, to 8,766.55.

9:50am: Yes Bank Ltd falls 3% to 1,240.90 after India’s capital markets regulator has found reason enough to launch adjudication proceedings against Yes Bank Ltd and its investment bankers over its abortive $1 billion fund-raising effort last month.

9:40am: The rupee on Thursday weakens for the second session against the US dollar at 66.58 against the US dollar, down 0.11% from its previous close of 66.51, in opening trade.

9:30am: Bond yield fall in 10 out of 12 trading sessions. The benchmark 10-year government bond yield is trading at 6.673% compared to Tuesday’s close of 6.674%.

9:25am: The dollar eases to ¥103.41 from ¥103.50, as it hovered near a one-month high against the Japanese currency fueled by the Fed rate cut outlook. The euro slips to $1.1204 from $1.1210.

9:15am: Oil prices ease after rising to their highest in three months. US benchmark crude oil futures sheds 30 cents to $49.53 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude gains lost 30 cents to $51.56 a barrel in London

9:10am: Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index climbs 0.7% to 16,934.32 and South Korea’s Kospi gains 0.2% to 2,058.13. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng adds 0.5% to 23,912.62 and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rises 0.4% to 5,472.00. Singapore’s benchmark rises but those in Taiwan and New Zealand falls. Markets in mainland China are closed for a weeklong holiday.

9:00am: Asian stocks posted modest gains and the dollar strengthened further against the yen Thursday as a healthy US economic report and rising oil prices overnight bolstered investor optimism.

8:50am: Major US benchmarks finished higher. The Dow Jones industrial average climbed 0.6% to 18,281.03. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index gained 0.4% to 2,159.73. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.5% to 5,316.02.
