Last week on Notes on Notes, we discussed what to look for when selecting an investment advisor. This week, Harish stresses on the importance of making sure your investment advisor walks his talk: when your advisor prescribes an investment plan, is his belief in that plan deep enough for him to personally invest in it as well?
Harish stresses that an investor should directly ask fund managers if they invest in their own schemes, which although common in America, does not happen in India. He says that this should be practiced before investing in schemes like IPO’s, closed ended schemes, schemes with a long lock-in, or schemes with heavy market churning.
