Sensex lifeline: high beeps and pratfalls

Axis Bank (2.32% up)
The Axis Bank stock was up 2.32% on the back of good results. The lender’s June quarter net profit increased 70.24% to Rs562.04 crore, against Rs330.14 crore a year ago.
SREI Infra (18.06% down)
The shares of SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd declined 18.06% on reports that the Registrar of Companies was probing into the firm’s association with Maytas Infra Ltd. The firm denied the allegations.
Gammon India (2.32% up)
The shares of Gammon India Ltd recovered at least 10% from the day’s low in the last 10 minutes of trading. The stock was under pressure as Gammon was the contractor for the collapsed Delhi Metro flyover.
SAIL (7.91% down)
The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) stock ended down 7.91% on the back of sell-off in base metal. The shares of the company lost Rs12.15 on Monday to close at Rs141.50 on the National Stock Exchange.
RIL (1.36% down)
Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) fell 1.36%. CLSA has cut the target for the stock to Rs1,680 from Rs1,925. The stock lost Rs24.20 on Monday to close at Rs1,750.95 on the National Stock Exchange.
Bajaj Hindusthan (12.34%)
Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd declined 12.34%. It has lost nearly 40% since the Budget. Deutsche Securities sold 1.75 million shares of the firm at Rs159.7 per share on Friday.
