Mumbai: Extending its gains for the third straight session, IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) surged by over 2% to touch a lifetime high of Rs1,126.90 in early trade on the BSE on Thursday.
Having jumped by 2.45% in the previous two sessions, TCS started the day on a strong note and rose by 2.32% to an all-time peak of Rs1,126.90.
Another IT bellwether, Infosys Technologies, also registered a smart gain of nearly 2%. Infosys, which carries the maximum weight in the Sensex pack after Reliance Industries, rose by 1.79% to touch Rs3,261 per piece.
Meanwhile, another software giant, Wipro, rose by 1.53%.
Experts said the strengthening US dollar boosted the attractiveness of IT stocks. TCS and Infosys were instrumental in driving the Sensex 75 points higher to 19,723.13 in the morning session.
