Mumbai: The rupee rose 0.30% on Friday on continuing investments by foreign institutional investors in the local stock market.
Foreign funds have bought shares worth $4.1 billion in the month through 26 December, the biggest investment since February.
The rupee ended at 54.78, up 0.30% from its previous close. It touched a low of 54.98 earlier on Friday.
This year foreign funds have invested $24.22 billion after selling $500 million worth of stocks last year.
