Bond yields off lows as inflation falls

Mumbai: Federal bond yields rebounded off intraday lows on Thursday after inflation data matched market expectations, prompting some investors to trim positions ahead of a Rs100 billion bond auction on Friday.
At 11:55am, the 10-year bond yield was at 5.52%, below Wednesday’s close of 5.58% and off an intraday low of 5.47%.
Wholesale price index (WPI) rose 5.24% in the 12 months to 3 January, below the previous week’s annual rise of 5.91%. The RBI is buying back Rs30 billion of intervention bonds later in the day, ahead of Rs100 billion of fresh auctions on Friday.
