Mumbai: Shares of Tata Power went up by nearly 3% in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday, boosted by a three-fold increase in net profit for the third quarter ended 31 December, 2010.
The country’s largest private power producer, Tata Power, rose by 2.99% to an early high of Rs1,278.50 on the BSE. The stock was also the top performer among the 30-Sensex scrip in early trade.
In a similar fashion, the stock surged by 3.03% to Rs1,279 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The company, had on Monday, posted a three-fold jump in net profit to Rs464.11 crore for the third quarter ended 31 December, 2010.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex was trading 68 points lower, at 18,133.96, at 10:25 am.
