Kochi: The UAE based Emke Group is setting up India’s ‘biggest´ shopping mall, including a 300 room hotel, at a Rs1200 crore investment at Kochi. This is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
The Lulu International Shopping Mall will be spread over 17 acres of land at nearby Edapally with a built-up area of 20 lakh square feet and will have parking space for more than 3000 vehicles, Yusuffali MA, managing director of Emke group told at a press meet here.
Consultants W S Atkins of UK have been entrusted with the project which will house over 300 national and international brands of fashion, jewellery, electronics, life style, home furnishing, furniture and accessories, book shops and footwear. Seven multiplex theatres, family amusement centres, bowling alley, six restaurants, a 50,000 square feet food court with 18 outlets and coffee shops are part of the blue print.
It would have a 300-room five star hotel that has been planned in cooperation with Marriot Hotels. A commercial tower exclusively for the airlines and aviation sector is also part of the plan.
Depending on the success of the project, similar malls would be planned in other states.
