Mumbai: Gold prices rose modestly by Rs20 per ten grams to Rs16,800 on the bullion market on Wednesday due to fresh buying amid positive global cues.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also looked up by Rs15 per ten grams to finish at Rs16,885.
Meanwhile, silver ready (.999 fineness) rose by Rs175 per kg to settle at Rs28,415.
In London, gold prices rose on euro strength sending positive cues to the domestic market.
Spot gold was bid at $1,159.15 an ounce in early trade against $1,150.15 late in New York on Tuesday.
US gold futures for June delivery also gained $6.70 to $1,160.10 an ounce on the COMEX division of the NYMEX.
Silver was bid at $18.40 an ounce against $18.18.
