Sensex lifeline: high beeps and pratfalls

HDFC (1.84% up)
Housing Development Finance Corp. (HDFC) gained 1.84% after CNBC-TV18 reported that the company has decided to realize value in its unlisted investments by transferring them to a special purpose vehicle and divesting stake in the next fiscal.
Punj Lloyd (3.94% down)
Punj Lloyd declined 3.94% and Pipavav Shipyard gained 8.39% after Punj Lloyd decided to sell its 19.43% stake in the shipyard to its co-promoter SKIL Infrastructure. UBS said the deal will not have any significant impact on Punj Lloyd’s valuation (about Rs2 per share).
DQ Entertainment (35.69% up)
DQ Entertainment gained 35.69% on the first day of its listing, against issue price of Rs80 per share. The stock opened at Rs135 and hit a high of Rs140 per share in early trading hours. DQ Entertainment has raised Rs128 crore through a public issue that was oversubscribed 86 times.
NMDC (4.60% up)
NMDC declined 4.60% after the listing of 332.2 million equity shares allocated in a follow-on public offer. Also, 625,000 shares were auctioned on Monday on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange, for which NSE set an auction price of Rs290.13 apiece.
Valecha (10.63% up)
Valecha Engineering gained 10.63% after its management said the company aims to tap orders worth up to Rs2,000 crore in the next few months. It is looking at various options for raising money for the new projects. The company expects a revenue of Rs1,000 crore in the next fiscal.
