Sensex lifeline: high beeps and pratfalls
PVR (0.55% up)
PVR Ltd ended up 0.55 % after reports suggested that Thailand major Cineplex may look to hike stake in PVR. The company told CNBC-TV18 that the firm had placed 10% stake with Cineplex three months ago and Cineplex has the option to hike stake in the firm from open market.
Natco (8.08% up)
Shares of Natco Pharma Ltd ended up 8.08% after the management told CNBC-TV18 that the firm will relaunch breast cancer drug Albupax within a month and expect a smooth launch of the product. The drug is expected to garner nearly Rs200 crore worldwide.
Hero Honda (4.41% up)
Hero Honda Motors Ltd gained 4.41% on reports that the firm may pay special dividend of Rs80-100 per share. The firm informed BSE that a meeting of the board of directors will be held on 30 March, inter alia, to consider the declaration of Special Interim Dividend.
Shoppers Stop (4.14% up)
Shopper’s Stop Ltd ended up 4.14% after the firm told NW18 that they expect FY10 profit at Rs45 crore against loss of Rs65 crore in FY09. The company has been showing turnaround with increase in footfalls and increase in consumer spending.
NTPC (1.42% down)
NTPC Ltd declined 1.42% after the government’s refusal to power sales by NTPC . With the government giving a flat no to clearing the company’s request to sell merchant power, more than 2,000MW of power projects are now in a limbo.
Panacea Biotec (13.03% up)
Panacea Biotec Ltd ended up 13.03% after the firm got financial assistance of Rs10 crore from the government for the influenza vaccine. Also, the firm will be able to take part in future tenders to supply vaccines to developing nations.
