Despite the economic crisis, we often think that, at the very least, growth is higher in India than in the developed world. It may be true of gross domestic product growth, but certainly isn’t for industrial production. May’s annual industrial production growth was higher in many developed countries than in India. Industrial production in the US, Japan, France, Germany and Spain is growing faster than in India. Since the stock market consists mainly of industrial companies, it could be a reason why the Indian market has performed worse than many developed markets this year.
