BSE Sensex closes down 248.03 points at 28,797.25; Nifty falls 85.80 points to settle at 8,866.70

4pm: BSE Sensex closes down 248.03 points at 28,797.25; Nifty falls 85.80 points to settle at 8,866.70.

2:30pm: BSE Sensex is trading lower by 174.95 points, or 0.60%, to 28,870.33, while the Nifty falls 55.90 points, or 0.62%, to 8,896.60.

2:10pm: Rupee is trading at 66.64 per dollar, down 0.31%, from its previous close of 66.42. The rupee opened at 66.56 per dollar and touched a low of 66.65 respectively.

1:40pm: BSE Sensex is trading lower by 180.45 points, or 0.62%, to 28,867.65, while the Nifty falls 52.90 points, or 0.59%, to 8,899.60.

1:25pm: Kaya Ltd rises 7.6% to 765 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it is in pact to acquire 75% stake in Sharjah based company Minal Medical Center. The agreement will become effective on fulfilling of certain conditions precedent and obtaining the requisite statutory approval/s, which will take approximately 4 months, it said.

1:15pm: Sunil Hitech Engineers Ltd rises 5.8% to 265.20. The stock gained 53% in last five days and So far this year it fell 3%.

1:05pm: Sugar stocks are trading higher. Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd rises 1.2%, Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd rises 4%, Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd rises 4.1%, Bajaj Hindustan Sugar Ltd rises 7.2%, Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd 2.5%, Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd 4%, Mawana Sugars Ltd 17%.

12:50pm: IDBI Bank shares are up 5% at 79.35, on the news report that Asian Development Bank may buy stake in the lender.

12:40pm: NBFC stocks are trading lower. Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd falls 4%, Edelweiss Financial Services Ltd is down 3.6%, Shriram City Finance 2.2%, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services 2%, Manappuram Finance 1.7%, L&T Finance 1.7%.

12:30pm: Housing finance companies are trading lower. Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd falls 2%, Gruh Finance Ltd 1.8%, Indiabulls Housing Finance is down 2.1%, LIC Housing Finance Ltd 0.6%.

12:20pm: BSE Sensex is trading lower by 239.70 points, or 0.83%, to 28,805.58, while the Nifty falls 75.95 points, or 0.85%, to 8,876.55.

12:10pm: Healthcare stocks are trading higher. Ipca Laboratories Ltd rises 2.4%, Cadila Healthcare 1.3%, Glenmark Pharma up 1.2%, Strides Shasun 1%, Sanofi India 0.8%, Aurobindo Pharma 0.8%.

12:00pm: Power companies are trading higher. Adani Power Ltd rises 4.3%, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd 2%, Reliance Power Ltd 1%, JSW Energy 1%, Torrent Power Ltd 0.7%.

11:50am: Auto companies are trading lower. Hero MotoCorp Ltd falls 2.2%, TVS Motors Ltd 2.2%, Bajaj Auto Ltd 1.6%, Tata Motors Ltd 1.5%, Ashok Leyland 1.4%, Maruti Suzuki India 1.2%.

11:40am: Financial Technologies Ltd jumps 16.5% to 91 after the company reported a net profit of 12.36 crore in June quarter against net loss of 45.33 crore a year ago. Total income rose 2.67% to 35.94 crore

11:30am: Zensar Technologies Ltd rises 7% to 1,075.40 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it signed multi-million dollar Development deal with AVIS Fleet in South Africa.

11:20am: Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd rises 6% to 172. Reserve Bank has allowed foreign investors to buy up to 100 per cent in Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. As of June 2016, the promoter group held 34.38% in the company, while the rest was held by the public.

11:10am: Puravankara Projects Ltd falls 6.7% to 51 after the company said its net profit for June quarter fell 67% to 10.14 crpre against 30.56 crore a year ago.

11:00am: BSE Sensex is trading lower by 226.41 points, or 0.78%, to 28,818.87, while the Nifty falls 70.65 points, or 0.79%, to 8,881.85.

10:50am: Mukand Ltd rises 6.6% to 69. According to CNBC report Mukand Invited bids for 55 acres of land in Thane.

10:40am: IT stocks are trading higher. HCL Technologies Ltd rises 1.1%, Wipro Ltd 1%, TCS 0.8%, Mindtree Ltd rises 1.7%.

10:30am: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd falls 4.2% to 82.95 after the company said its consolidated net loss widened to 1,082.15 crore in June quarter against 542.42 crore. Total income rose 4.3% to 4,686.60 crore.

10:20am: Steel Authority of India falls 4% to 51.65 after the company said its net loss widened to 535.52 crore in June quarter against 248.18 crore. Total income fell 3.8% to 9,327.36 crore.

10:10am: Logistics companies are trading higher on the back of higher volumes after goods and services tax (GST) was achieved after President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent on Thursday to the constitution amendment bill that enables the implementation of this indirect tax reform. Gati Ltd rises 3.8%, VRL Logistics Ltd rises 1.6%, Patel Integrated Logistics Ltd rises 1.9%, Snowman Logistics 3%, Transport Corporation of India 1.8%, Sical Logistics 0.4%.

9:55am: Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd rises 2.5% to 336.50. According to CNBC report Motherson Sumi QIP Closed; Issue Gets Demand Of Over $400 million.

9:45am: The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex is currently trading lower by 150.75 points, or 0.52%, to 28,894.53, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) falls 51.65 points, or 0.58%, to 8,900.85.

9:40am: Yes Bank Ltd falls 5% to 1,250 after the bank on Thursday deferred its proposed 6,642 crore institutional private placement. The Mumbai-based lender cited “extreme volatility and misinterpretation of new QIP (qualified institutional placement) guidelines" for the delay, in a stock exchange filing.

9:35am: The Indian rupee on Friday weakens against the US dollar at 66.55 per dollar, down 0.20% from its previous close of 66.42, tracking the losses in the Asian currencies markets.

9:30am: Bond yield falls in 11 out of 13 trading sessions. The 10-year bond yield is trading at 7.044% compared to its Thursday’s close of 7.045%.

9:25am: The dollar strengthens to ¥102.06 from ¥101.50 late on Thursday in Asia. The euro climbs to $ 1.1272 from $1.1253.

9:15am: Oil prices lost some of its overnight surge following a report indicating fuel stockpiles fell precipitously last week. Benchmark US crude sheds 38 cents to $47.24 a barrel in New York. Brent crude edges down 43 cents to $49.56 in London.

9:10am: Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 falls 0.2% in the morning session to 16,927.20. South Korea’s Kospi loses 1.3% to 2,036.07. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up 0.5% to 24,026.89, while the Shanghai Composite slips nearly 0.2% to 3,090.58. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 drops 0.8% to 5,342.102.

9:00am: Asian markets are mostly lower on Friday on disappointment about the European Central Bank’s decision to keep policy unchanged.

8:50am: The Dow Jones industrial average lost 46.23 points, or 0.3%, to 18,479.91. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index slid 4.86 points, or 0.2%, to 2,181.30. A sell-off in technology stocks weighed on the Nasdaq composite index, which fell 24.44 points, or 0.5%, to 5,259.48.
