New Delhi: Boosted by strong global cues and a drop in oil prices, the Indian bourses snapped a five-day losing streak with the benchmark index moving up 536 points to end at 13,112 levels.
In broader markets, the Nifty firmed up 130 points to 3,947 levels.
Leading the pack of gainers among the BSE 30 scrips was HDFC. The counter vaulted 9.8% or Rs168. DLF Limited, BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates, TCS Limited, Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies and ACC were some of the other notable gainers.
Banking scrips found fresh investor interest with Axis Bank moving up 8.7%. HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Yes Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank and Bank of India also logged considerable gains.
