Mumbai: The rupee showed signs of appreciation against the US currency during morning trade today as it improved marginally to 43.31/32 a dollar in fairly volatile trade amid continued capital outflows and high crude oil prices.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market, the local currency resumed weak at 43.37.38 a dollar from its last close of 43.33/34 a dollar, but later bounced to 43.31/32 a dollar in late morning deals.
Dealers said the rupee staged a smart recovery after a weak start due to dollar selling by exporters at the current levels while there was little dollar demand in early trade.
Global oil prices, however, traded near record high levels around $142 dollar in Asian trade today.
