When Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the referral scheme for Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app on 14 April, he said anyone who referred and explained how to use the BHIM app will stand a chance to earn money. The government is taking the tried and tested path of a referral scheme to push BHIM app usage. However, Modi asked people to read the details of the scheme. On 18 April, National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI) uploaded the details on its website. Here is what you must know about the referral bonus scheme.
To earn money through the referral bonus scheme, you need to refer the BHIM app to a new BHIM and new *99# user. The referral code in this case is your registered mobile number.
For instance, if you ask your friend to download and use BHIM app, she has to enter your mobile number as referral code. If you have not yet downloaded BHIM app, you too can earn money by registering on it. Remember that you will get the incentive only if the referral code is used to register on BHIM/*99# and do three valid unique successful transactions. You have to enter the referral code only during the first successful financial transaction.
Remember that you won’t be able to enter the referral code in the app if you miss it while doing the first successful transaction. A unique transaction means it should be different from previously used account number or mobile number from your BHIM/ *99# account.
You will get the money after three unique successful transactions. Valid transactions for the scheme should be greater than or equal to Rs50.
If you are new to BHIM app, you will get a referral bonus amount of Rs25 after completing all the required conditions to your newly registered BHIM/*99# account. You will get a referral bonus amount of Rs10 per person for every complete process done by a referred person.
Once you are eligible for the money, you will be notified under ‘Rewards’ section under ‘Transactions’ tab. You can expect the amount to be credited to your account within five days after the new user has done their third unique transaction.
You can give your referral code to any number of people you want. You can also transfer money to the person whose referral code you are using to avail the referral scheme. It is possible to earn as much as Rs25,000 per month from referral bonuses.
