Mumbai: A majority of stock brokers are against the proposed extension of trading hours at the stock exchanges. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) had allowed exchanges to extend market trading hours from the present 9.55am-3.30pm to 9am-5pm.
In a survey conducted by brokers’ lobby Association of National Exchanges Members of India, or Anmi, 62% of the 395 brokers across the country said they did not want an extension.
Even among those who voted for extension, 83% voted against the extension beyond 3.30pm, while 63% supported the advancing of opening of the markets to 9am.
