Open Coffee Club
Close to 50 people turned up on Sunday for the Open Coffee Club (OCC) meet-up at the CoreObjects office. The agenda centred on OpenCommune and NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network) Start-up Jobs.
Venkat Ramana, CEO of outsourced software and Web solutions company Outsmart360, spoke on OpenCommune and the idea and inspiration behind it.
OpenCommune is a movement to create a space for collaboration within a shared office environment for entrepreneurs and freelancers.
Ramana said Outsmart has eight desks to rent out and he plans to limit the fee to Rs1,500 per desk.
He discussed the existing gaps in the present office space ecosystem. Ramana also answered some questions raised by the audience.
Q. Why is the fee so low?
Because it is not a commercial offering, but aimed at growing the community.
Q. What if the start-up company gets a big project and/or needs to hire more people for its requirements?
The OpenCommune desk space will be governed by a charter, which shall be able to take care of this scenario.
Shalin Mantri from National Entrepreneurship Network talked about NEN Start-up Jobs, which is aimed at helping start-ups with recruitment.
The initiative is still nascent and the purview of its activities not fully finalized.
All in all, it was exciting to have a good turnout of people for the meet.
Hoping to catch up with more of you on 30 March.
