Dhanlaxmi Bank Gift Card
WHAT IT OFFERS
It is a prepaid non-reloadable card. In other words, money can be loaded on the card only at the time of the purchase. It basically works like a debit card and you can use it to make purchases at all VISA-enabled merchant outlets. Currently, there are around 450,000 outlets in the country. You can also use it at hotels, restaurants and to buy tickets.
FEATURES
You need to put at least Rs500 up to a maximum of Rs50,000, in multiples of Rs100. The gift card comes with an automated teller machine (ATM) personal identification number (PIN) and can be used at any Dhanlaxmi Bank Ltd’s ATM to check the balance left. At the time of issuance of the card, you need to pay Rs100, in addition to the load amount. It allows you to redeem any balance left unused but at a cost—Rs100. Remember that you need to redeem the balance within six months of the expiry of the card at any Dhanlaxmi Bank branch.
In case you lose the card, a new card can be issued after the previous account is closed and the balance redeemed.
HOW TO BUY
It can be bought off the shelf at any branch of the bank; you don’t need an account with the bank to buy the card. The gift card is valid for a period of one year. No additional documents are required for existing customers of the bank. If you aren’t a customer, you will need to provide a few documents such as address and identity proofs.
THE LIMITATIONS
Unlike a few other gift cards, this one cannot be used for transactions on the Internet or over the phone. There are gift cards with a validity period of two years, but this one is valid only for a year. Unlike a few other banks, with this card, you cannot change the ATM PIN as of now, nor make a regeneration request. Moreover, some cards allow you to check the balance online and one even allows the facility on the mobile phone. Here you can check the balance only at the bank’s ATM.
MINT MONEY TAKE
It is similar to other gift cards offered by banks such as Axis Bank Ltd, Central Bank of India and HDFC Bank Ltd to name a few. There’s nothing special about it. In fact, if you are looking for a card that you want to use online, this won’t work.
If you are looking for a gift card in general and you are an existing Dhanlaxmi Bank customer, there is no paperwork involved. If you aren’t a customer of Dhanlaxmi Bank, you may as well go to any other bank.
