HDFC (13.8% up)
HDFC surged 13.8% on Q4 numbers. While reported profit fell marginally, the firm reported net profit growth of 23%, post adjusting for exceptional items for previous year.

Stock rallied 16.5%; the firm says it will match any competing bid for Asarco— current bid stands $1.7 billion. It sees closure in 3-4 months; steel sector also aided by a prices recovery.

Stock up 19%. The firm has won a 5-year deal from UTi Worldwide for IT application and infrastructure operations and management.

Stock up 10.5% after the firm won a $500 million deal from Unitech Wireless to provide IT services, pipping rivals IBM, Tech Mahindra and TCS.

Stock rallied 6.7% after the firm reported fourth-quarter numbers in line with expectations; GSM roll-out led the 18% quarter-on-quarter subscriber increase to 73 million.

Mahindra and Mahindra stock up 12% on strong April sales figures. The auto maker sold 23,004 vehicles (domestic + exports) in April 2009, as against 20,030 vehicles in April 2008.

Siemens up 9.3% on back of strong quarterly results—its profit surged 36.5% year-on-year. The firm says macro environment is still challenging.

Stock down 3.6% on back of poor numbers; MTNL has reported a loss of Rs83.3 crore, its first, on account of exceptional items of staff costs.
