Infrastructure prime PE focus

After private equity (PE) investments crossed the $8 bn mark last year, January saw $431 mn worth of investments across 25 deals. This was 5% down from the $454 mn worth of investments across 24 deals in the same month last year, according to data compiled by Four-S Services. The average deal size, however, rose from $18.9 mn to $21.6 mn in the same period. Infrastructure topped the investment chart accounting for 47% of investments, with a deal value of $202.8 mn, benefiting from the largest deal of the month. Energy continues to remain one of the key investment themes for PE players. IT/ITeS occupied the second slot with $79.5 mn (18%) worth of investments across six deals.
