Mumbai: Shares gained for the week, provisionally closing 0.5% higher on Friday, with metal producers leading the rise on upbeat outlook for base metals.

The 30-share BSE index provisionally ended up 0.48%, or 95.39 points, at 20,078.27 points, with 24 components gaining.

The 50-share NSE index provisionally closed up 0.6% at 6,014.40 points.
