New York: US markets finished the week with solid gains, ending the day higher. The week saw the Dow rise about 3%, the S&P 500 up 2.7%, while the tech heavy Nasdaq surged 3.7%, making it the best weekly performance in 8 months.
Although issues regarding Japan and Libya remain, investors focused on good earnings from the Oracle, which saw its stock up over one and a half percent. IBM, which, like Oracle, sells software to businesses, went up over 1%.
And shares of blackberry maker Research in Motion tanked over 11%. Although it reported revenues rose 36% compared to last year, it still fell short of expectations.
