Mumbai: In a volatile trade past week four out of top-10 companies added a sum of over Rs19,000 crore to their market capitalization (m-cap) with SBI contributing the most to the kitty.

Meanwhile, six companies, including ONGC, NTPC and Infosys Technologies lost a sum of Rs18,339.74 crore from their m-cap for the week ended 24 April.

Public-sector lender SBI made the biggest contribution of Rs13,256.29 crore to its m-cap, taking its total valuation to Rs1,43,203.53 crore.

Shares of SBI surged 10.20% to settle at Rs2,255.60 at the end of Friday’ trade on the BSE.

During the past week the BSE benchmark Sensex gained 103.02 points, or 0.58%, at 17,694.20 points.

Country’s most valued firm Reliance Industries Ltd, which reported a growth of 30% in net profit at Rs4,710 crore for the fourth quarter ended 31 March 2010, saw its valuation rising by Rs1,324.5 crore to Rs3,55,603.68 crore at the end of the week.

State-run firms ONGC and NTPC together lost Rs5,087.87 crore from their valuation.

ONGC, the second most valued firm, lost Rs3,026.5 crore from its m-cap, taking its total valuation to Rs2,17,587.25 crore and NTPC at third spot saw its valuation falling by Rs2,061.37 crore to Rs1,69,114.38 crore.

State-owned trading firm MMTC jumped to 4th place from earlier 6th spot after adding Rs1,138.25 crore to its valuation, taking its total m-cap to Rs1,56,826.75 crore.

IT firms -- Infosys Technologies and TCS -- together lost Rs10,190.5 crore from their m-cap.

IT bellwether Infosys Technologies skid to 5th spot from 4th after losing Rs3,310.95 crore from its m-cap, taking its total valuation to Rs1,56,543.83 crore and software outsourcing firm TCS, which fell to 6th position from 5th saw its valuation declining by Rs6,879.55 crore to Rs1,52,622.46 crore.

SBI stood at 7th position, while, power equipment supplier BHEL at 8th position saw its m-cap falling by Rs536.02 crore to Rs1,21,476.84 crore.

Mining major NMDC at 9th spot added Rs3,409.65 crore to its valuation, while private telecom services provider Bharti Airtel at last position lost Rs2,525.35 crore from its m-cap.

At the end of the week, the total m-cap of NMDC stood at Rs1,19,198.71 crore, while Bharti Airtel’s m-cap fell to Rs1,13,052.17.
