National Aluminium Co. (Nalco) has invited bids to sell 25,000 tonnes of alumina, chairman C.R. Pradhan said. Buyers have until 28 April to submit offers, Pradhan said by telephone from Bhubaneswar. The alumina will be shipped next month.
Nalco exports 64% of its 1.6 million tonnes a year alumina production at prices linked to those on the London Metal Exchange. Prices of alumina have recovered to $511 a ton in China, the world’s biggest aluminum producer, from a low of $297 in December, according to Metal Bulletin.
