Mumbai: The BSE Realty Index, an index tracking shares of property developers launched by BSE on 10 July, surged on its debut.
The BSE Realty Index closed at 7,377.53, after surging to 7,447.75. The BSE Realty Index consists of 11 listed firms, representing about 95% market capitalisation of real estate development companies which are part of the BSE-500 index.
Recently listed realty giant DLF has the highest weightage of 35.94% in the BSE Realty Index. Unitech is another heavyweight in the index, with a 31.57% weightage.
Meanwhile, the market pared gains on profit booking at higher levels, after striking all time high in early trade. The benchmark index Sensex closed at 15,009 losing 35.25 points or 0.24%.
