Mumbai: Indian shares rose 0.3% in early trade on Thursday, with outsourcers and Reliance Industries leading the rise, tracking firm Asian markets.

At 9:01am, the 30-share BSE index was up 0.28% at 18,268.68 points, with 18 components advancing.

Energy giant Reliance Industries was up 0.6% after it said one of its units had signed definitive agreements to enter into a Marcellus Shale gas joint venture with United States-based Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc.

The 50-share NSE Index was up 0.2% at 5,480.80 points.
